FEAR & ANXIETY

Anxiety is a low-level ongoing fear, such as fear of rejection, abandonment, loss etc. Fear underpins many of our issues. The number one goal of the subconscious is to avoid threat. If fear or anxiety is an issue for you, then somewhere in the past you are likely to have had a perception of danger or threat, which just hasn’t been switched off. The alarm is still ringing, if you like. Because it’s difficult to convince the subconscious to let go of its fears in the midst of fear, all of the services offered provide sufficient mind and body relaxation to calm the nervous system in order to allow in suggestions of safety.  When you hear yourself talking about a sense of safety within a season and you can feel the sensations of it, it is likely to send a strong message to the subconscious. The message says that the threat has passed and the alarm can now be switched off, switching off fear and anxiety.

It's useful to know that there is always a limit to the amount of fear that a mind can experience. Once that ceiling is reached and the mind realizes everything is still ok, the fear just reduces. Repeated several times, this is how fears are gradually extinguished. Many of us never get this natural fear reduction however, because we never take ourselves to that fear ceiling in the first place. We avoid the fear instead, understandably. This is where mentally rehearsing the fear, as if it’s happening right now, but in a state of calm relaxation can help. It can take you to that fear ceiling so that it can naturally lesson, without even realizing. Because the brain can’t easily differentiate between reality and something that is vividly imagined, continuing to mentally rehearse the fear in this way continues to reduce it, easily.

Services to Consider
  • Hypnosis & Visualization Systematic desensitization describes the simple process whereby you keep visualizing your fearful situation, each time making it progressively more fear inducing, but with an increasing sense of relaxation. Each repetition reduces the fear. This can be helpful for fears which increase as you get closer to them such as presenting, driving on a motorway or flying etc. Someone with a fear of presenting will often rate their fear as 9/10 at the start of the session and 0-2/10 out the end.

  • Parts Therapy Inner conflict is often caused by a protective part of us that is keeping us small, in order to keep us safe. There is still an underlying fear, but it’s a different type of fear. This therapy works really well to essentially give that part a much more productive and positive cheerleader type role, which is aligned to your goals and future happiness. It works by changing the role of the key drivers in your mind, altering them from a role of protection to a role of participation.

  • Current Life Regression Past events can continue to haunt us, repeating in our minds as if stuck on a loop. This can be made worse if we continue to think or ruminate about them, essentially driving the thorn in deeper still. These events may not have been processed properly at the time by the brain, owing either to shock, trauma or emotional immaturity. Revisiting those events but from a relaxed state can help to process the event and the memories, especially if accompanied by any physical movements, such as pushing off, undoing, running away etc. This gives the body the experience of doing what it couldn’t do at the time. Reframing the situation to vividly imagine experiencing it in a completely different way can then continue to help release the initial fear.

  • Past Life Regression For particular fears with no obvious cause, such as a fear of water, going back to the ‘source’ of an issue in a past life may be worth exploring. Is it real or just a vividly imagined ‘role play’? You can decide for yourself. Irrespective of the truth of it, PLR is often useful to remove unhelpful and unexplainable fears.

  • Womb Regression / Between Lives Spiritual Regression Both of these therapies remove fear and anxiety but in a different wider way. You may discover that some of them don’t actually belong to you. Perhaps you ‘inherited’ them from others and are just continuing to carry them. But when you look at your own life objectively as if from afar you may come to view your fears and anxieties in a different light. You may see the value or lessons in them, or you may see them as unnecessary thoughts that can now simply be let go of.
