Many people are familiar with Past Life Regression, some with Between Lives Regression, but Age, Womb or Pre-Birth Regression remains a lesser-known, yet valuable therapeutic technique, offering insights and emotional healing opportunities.
Understanding Age/Womb Regression
Age, Womb or Pre-Birth Regression are all terms to describe a specialized form of regression therapy that guides individuals to a state of higher wisdom and awareness within the hypothetical space after conception but before birth. This technique can be particularly beneficial for those seeking to heal or understand parental relationships, explore feelings around maternal love and safety or experience moments of simplicity and joy.
The Reality of Age/Womb Regression
While the concept may seem abstract and requires a leap of faith, it is believed that the subconscious mind begins absorbing data from the earliest stages of life. Research suggests for example, that pre-natal trauma or traumatic births may result in lasting impacts, such as heightened sensitivity or feeding difficulties. If the unborn are feeling, recording, and aware beings from conception, it seems feasible that anything experienced in-utero could remain within the subconscious, molding and shaping the adult.
If reconnecting with your early subconscious or your superconscious seems too much of a stretch for you, then view this experience instead as a metaphorical or imagined approach to accessing deep emotions and feelings. Metaphor, fantasy and imagination are the language of the subconscious. We currently don’t know which explanation is true; spiritual at one extreme or metaphorical imaginations at the other, so being open to the possibility that this experience can offer a nurturing and powerful experience for emotional healing and reconciliation is perhaps therefore more important to focus on then how it might work.
How Age/Womb Regression Works?
The regression process begins with guided relaxation to calm the mind and body, followed by revisiting and exploring a number of happy or neutral childhood memories. This is the Age Regression part and it can be a lovely positive experience, even if you find positive childhood memories hard to recall.
You are then guided to the (real or metaphorical) space after conception but before birth, exploring thoughts and emotions about yourself and your mother. Most clients just have a sense of wise ‘knowing’ about themselves and their upcoming lives. In this Womb Regression part of the session, we explore your feelings about being born, your connection with others, and ideas about the life ahead.
These two types of regression can serve as one beneficial session in its own right or as a stepping stone into other types of regression, such as past life or current life regression.
Benefits of Age/Womb Regression
Although we don’t know if it’s the superconscious or metaphorical imaginings of the subconscious, there are often some typical benefits delivered from this type of regression:
Healing Maternal Relationships The bond between mother and child is complex and can be deeply impacted by many factors. Age/womb regression allows individuals to revisit this fundamental relationship, fostering understanding and compassion, and releasing unresolved feelings for more harmonious relationships with self and others.
Reversing Energetic Projections Emotions such as fear, anxiety, or inadequacy may be ‘inherited’ from parents or relatives, whether by nature or nurture. Recognizing and separating these emotions from one's own, even if metaphorical, can transform heavy ‘family’ feelings into lightness, energy, clarity and perhaps even love.
Releasing Birth Trauma Traumatic birth experiences can be locked in the subconscious. Visualizing oneself in that moment and providing love, support and nurturing to your own newly born self can initiate positive reconnection and integration.
Recalling Childhood Memories Challenging childhoods often result in difficulty recalling any positive childhood memories. Age regression aims to reconnect with happy or neutral childhood moments. Even recalling neutral memories, when you think there aren’t any, can be a gift, offering healing and new perspectives. The discovery of any long-lost joy and excitement can often be channelled into new creative thinking.
Accessing Lost Emotions The womb is an emotional access point. Positive emotions such as joy, excitement, love or a safety, especially if long forgotten, may be rediscovered and re-experienced through womb regression.
Enhancing Inner Wisdom Age/Womb regression bridges Current Life Regression and Between Lives Spiritual Regression, providing access to intuition, inner wisdom, and a sense of knowing. This clarity and perspective can support individuals during life's challenges.
Although Age/Womb regression may not be the first choice of therapeutic experience for many owing to its lack of explanation and research, its ability to bring in new insights, wisdom and understanding alongside a greater sense of peace and clarity, makes it worth considering and exploring. Whilst it may be a lessor known therapeutic approach, it is still a valuable tool for emotional healing and self-awareness.
