About the workshop

  • Reconnect with the feelings and experience of joy, gratitude, awe & wonder

  • Reorient your brain's goal-seeking towards joy and simple pleasures

  • Unique, small-group guided visualization workshop. Just close your eyes

  • Recommended for those feeling flat or jaded

Is your life about safety, rather than satisfaction, drama rather than delight? Has life been difficult for so long, that much of your daily focus is now on problems to be solved or issues to be resolved? When life remains consistently challenging like this, the brain can shift its attention towards spotting and avoiding further danger. When your inner radar is only looking for signs of potential peril, then joy, wonder and simple delights often get overlooked. You can think of the aims of this session as like sitting on a pier above a rough sea (perhaps eating fish and chips!). All of the challenges in life (the waves) are still happened around you and you are aware of them, but somehow you feel above it all, feeling safety, joy and simple pleasure, instead of drama and danger. If joy has become elusive in your life, then this session can act as a gentle wake up.

After pausing the anxious mind, we'll gently reorient it towards joyful things and simple pleasures. There is no forced fun or fake positivity in this session, just simply going inside and reconnecting with your own genuine feelings of simple joy. All you need do is imagine along with the visualizations. Whilst this session won’t solve your challenges, with a greater sense of lightness and brightness afterwards, they might just be easier to face. Making it easier to ride the waves, rather than battling on through them.

How it Works

  • Group size (1-12)

  • Session length: approx 2-hrs

After introductions and a brief discussion, you’ll be gently guided through a variety of imaginary situations, with the aim of increasing positive feelings. All you need to do is to imagine along to the instructions given, in a quiet and undisturbed place where you can safety relax. Knowing that you are doing this activity within a small group of like-minded people can also be comforting too. Most participants are easily able to focus along with the guided visualization for the duration. Listening to the prework guided relaxation audio files beforehand can help prepare your brain to relax, let go and more easily focus inwardly. Think of it as brain training. We will conclude with a brief group check-in over a cup of tea and next steps.
