About the workshop

  • Effortless first step towards overcoming your dread of presenting or speaking up in meetings

  • Change the story within your inner mind to build speaking confidence

  • Utilizes fear desensitization techniques and the power of your imagination to change your mind’s automatic associations

  • Unique, small-group guided visualization workshop. No presenting required

  • Recommended for introverted, sensitive, fearful, phobic, neurodiverse or beginner presenters

Do you have a secret fear of presenting or speaking up in meetings that seems too much to fix? Thankfully there’s now an easier, brain-smart approach, using the power of your inner mind, to rapidly and effortlessly change your associations and inner story around presenting and speaking up. Using your imagination as a rehearsal room, you can now easily build your speaking confidence first, before improving your speaking skills later.

Uses a combination of evidence-based systematic desensitization techniques plus vivid visualization and suggestion to help overcome the dread, fear or phobia. Simply close your eyes and use your imagination to mentally rehearse new reactions and behaviours. The easiest possible first step to overcoming the fear of public speaking and building your presenting confidence. This session may be helpful for social anxiety too.

Whilst this session won’t improve your presenting skills, the weeks of dread before presenting should reduce considerably, as you find yourself just feeling more confident when presenting and speaking up. Combine it with any of the drop-in presentation skills workshops afterwards for more far-reaching change.

How it Works

  • Group size (1-15)

  • Session length: approx 2-hrs

  • Evening zoom sessions to minimise work disruption

After introductions and some brief brain-related theory, you’ll be gently guided whilst in a calm and relaxed state through a variety of imaginary presentations. If you have done hypnosis or guided meditations before then the experience will be familiar to you. If not, think of this inner mind journey as similar to an immersive VR experience, but with your eyes closed and your imagination providing the immersive experience. All you will need to do is to imagine along to the instructions given, in a quiet and undisturbed place where you can safety relax. Most participants are easily able to focus along with the guided visualization for the duration and feel calm and relaxed afterwards. During the session you’ll be asked to silently self-assess your own fear level. Most participants notice a rapid and significant drop in those scores. We will conclude with a brief group check-in and next steps.
